About the Council

The Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia was established under the auspices of the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce & Industry on the 10th of November, 2009. The Council is incorporated and operated as a standalone non-commercial and non-governmental organization (non-commercial partnership) based on asset/capital contributions by the members for the primary purpose of developing B2B ties and boosting trade and economic relationships between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Indonesia.

The Council is chaired by Mr. Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board MMC Norilsk Nickel, formerly a head of the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism yet co-chairman of the Russian-Indonesian Joint Commission for Trade-Economic and Technical Cooperation.
Mr. Mikhail Kouritsyn in the capacity of Chairman and CEO Geo Spectrum Ltd. holds the office of the Executive Director of the Council. Incidentally Mr. Kouritsyn also fills the position of ExecDir in the Russia-Indonesia Cooperation and Friendship Society.

The Council’s Main Goals and Objectives are:

  • Establishing and developing mutually beneficial cooperation and business relationships between the Russian and Indonesian business circles;
  • Promoting Russian business and commercial interests in Indonesia yet expanding and diversifying Russian-Indonesian trade, economic, investment, scientific and technical cooperation;
  • Combining efforts and maintaining meaningful dialog between the entrepreneurs looking forward to more advanced and more efficient Russian-Indonesian business cooperation, including that under the framework of collaboration between the respective national business councils (Indonesia-Russia Business Council founded under the aegis of KADIN (Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Indonesia is headed by Gen. Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, the former Minister of Industry and Trade);
  • Elevating the role and participation of interested business executives in the issues of shaping and implementing relevant state policy in the area of Russian-Indonesian economic cooperation;
  • Improving and enhancing information exchange between the entrepreneurs of both countries.
