Business Forum “Indonesia – Russia. Investment Strategies”

11 February 2014
The first Business Forum “Russia – Indonesia. Investment Strategies” is expected to be held in Jakarta on the 25th of February, 2014. The Forum is organized by the Russian and Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the Russia-Indonesia business Council.
The Business Forum “Indonesia – Russia. Investment Strategies” (IRIS) is timed to the regular 9th Session of the Russia-Indonesia Joint Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation co-chaired by Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, who are expected to open the event.

The delegates of the IRIS Forum represent business communities of both countries, industrial entities, investment companies, trade and financial institutions. Officials from the relevant Russian and Indonesian ministries and government agencies as well as the members of business circles from other countries of the Asia Pacific Region and the Customs Union of Russia are also expected to attend.

The event covers a Panel Discussion, presentations of Russian investment projects and bilateral negotiations. The agenda of the Forum represents the logical follow-up to the formal statements from President Vladimir Putin during his address delivered at the St. Petersburg international Economic Forum 2013 regarding the necessity to implement forward-looking bilateral investment projects. Incidentally, the first formal announcement of the IRIS event was made in the course of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

According to Mikhail Kouritsyn, Chief Executive Officer of the Russia-Indonesia Business Council, the IRIS Forum is most likely to become the model for new standard of networking business events held in the framework of G2G commissions, whereas its regular holding will gradually enable to fill the information gap between the business communities yet it will contribute to more efficient use of mutually complementary nature of the economies of Russia, Indonesia and other Asia Pacific counties.
