The latest promotion was held in Moscow from 2 to 5 August 2018, almost three weeks after the 2018 World Cup in Russia was over.   Under the theme ‘Visit Wonderful Indonesia, Exports Our Region’, tourism promotion in the Russian capital encompassed Indonesian cultural shows, a workshop and a business forum, according to a report by
Meanwhile, Russian visitors holidaying in Indonesia reportedly totaled 110,529 people in 2017, a 37.28 percent hike from the previous year. They formed the largest number of foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia last year, taking over the position of holidaymakers from China. Bali is one of the most attractive destinations for Russian travelers.
According to Bambang Brodjonegoro, who is Minister/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), 90 percent of Russian investments in Indonesia are in the hotel, restaurant and trade sectors. Most of those investments are located in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the minister said in his speech during last week’s Indonesia-Russia Business Forum in Moscow.
A total of 7.53 million foreign tourists reportedly visited Indonesia from January to June of this year, a 13.08 percent increase from the same period in 2017. Meanwhile, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Arif Yahya previously said that the tourism sector would be Indonesia’s largest foreign exchange earner by 2019.
